Simplified performance-based design of one-story and multistory ductile buildings with rigid diaphragm and parallel system including irregular-type buildings, mixed structural systems, and new materials and construction structural systems is introduced considering acceptable inelastic deformation limits using shear and torsional strength capacity ratios and certain levels of major earthquake ground motions at some urban area in a Japanese high seismic zone based on the past earthquake data as an example.Several design examples are also presented. However, more research is needed for design ground motions and so on.
